Demystifying the process, pre-design work and why we do it this way
Our process comes out of 25 years of experience.
We start every project with our JH Studio Project Planning SystemTM.
As a first step we recommend our half hour free project planning call. When you register for the call we will send you our Project Planning Pack.
The PPS is a stand alone document that will become a guidebook for your project.
PPS: We do parts 1-4 on every job as our JH Studio Pre-Design PPS. This typically takes 2-4 weeks.
What the pre-design and design process looks like for you:
Your Involvement: Establish priorities and vision and your desired day to day participation.
Listening: Establish trust by getting to know you
Reflecting & Researching: Figure out what you want
Design: Marry expecations with what’s possible
Implementation: With JH Studio guidance, decide approach to contractor selection and pricing
This detailed graphic describes project stages from inception to completion.
If you are not ready to do a PPS, we offer an on site informational JH Studio Walkthrough, Red Tape Review.

Why Our Unique Experience Matters
Designing art and civic projects has schooled me in how to create tightly coordinated flowing custom spaces for any project. Use of natural light, renewable materials, thoughtful detailing for acoustics and discreet integration of building systems are constants in my design work.
Similarly, embassy and education projects often have complex circulation and security needs, flexible use spaces and quality maintainable materials and details.
