HOMES
We love creating homes where people can really be themselves.

Nature: This 12 x 17 foot plant wall is self-irrigating. It provides a focal point while it cleans the air.

Function: A giant work table is lined with well-organized storage. The new air conditioning system is fully concealed.

Illusion of Space: The wall-mounted toilet and frameless glass expand the feeling of this small bathroom.

Texture: Quiet light fixtures and a restrained palette makes for calm.

Color: Yellow glass brightens the backsplash and provides a modern backdrop.

Found Space: The new balcony extension looks like it has always been there. It allowed us to add a bathroom, a seating area and enlarge a bedroom.

Creative Details: Simple, colorful detail prevents children from climbing over the railing in the play area.

Harmonious Design" Modern elements echo the original details.

Special Details: Custom fabricated plant trays inset into window sill cabinetry.

Composed and Quiet: An Akari lamp provides soft sculptural light. We designed a coffee table and a custom silk and wool rug for the floor.

Modern Detail: Glass sills float in the penthouse windows which overlook Central Park, downtown and the Hudson River.

Custom Millwork: The built in bed aligns perfectly with a continuous bench. Furniture and millwork throughout are handmade of solid Brazilian cherry.

Thoughtful Maintenance: Paint was removed and bricks repointed, maintaining the original small joints. The windows were remade using the original casings and restoration glass.

Restoration: Original details were carefully restored.

Quiet Interiors: We opened up and stripped back the interiors to improve their proportions and create restful space.

Open Kitchen: The Kitchen was relocated from the basement. We eliminated upper cabinets by creating a vertical pantry.

Flowing Space: The Living Room opening is enlarged and composed with the entry.

Color: Yellow stairs brighten the center of the building.

A large unenclosed shower overlooks the backyard.

Flattering Light: Simple lighting to the sides of the sink provide even, flattering light.

Details: Shower niche is lined with watery hand made tile for relief in this (almost) all-white bath.

Color: Bright red wall adds graphic punch in a bedroom.

Houses are designed using locally available materials with a simple, logical structural system.

Teacher houses are designed to have private, covered entries.

Window and roof structures are designed for passive ventilation to direct and optimize airflow through the building.

Rooftop addition with open views for entertaining

The west wall flips up revealing a view to Manhattan and shading the intense sunlight from the West.

The plan is created to maximize open space for entertaining and connection to the out of doors. A small room provides a private retreat.
